Real-time mission control, on-screen for every sales call.
Othello is an execution layer for modern revenue teams.
Why recording becomes a compliance question
Tools that analyze conversations after the fact have to record and store the call to do their work. That recording is where a compliance question enters. Many teams operate under consent expectations for recorded conversations, and some jurisdictions expect every party on a call to consent before it is recorded. Data-retention and data-residency policies add a second layer: once a customer conversation is stored, it becomes data a security and privacy team has to account for. A recording-based tool can clear the sales team's bar and then stall at legal or security review, precisely because the recording and the stored transcript are the parts under scrutiny.
How live coaching changes the question
Real-time coaching has a different data requirement. The guidance is produced during the call, so the conversation does not have to be recorded or stored for the rep to be helped. When recording is the part that raises the compliance question, removing the recording removes the question.
Othello's published posture on this:
-
Othello provides coaching without recording conversations, and in regulated environments it functions without storing audio, transcripts, or PII.
-
Othello is invisible by design and runs without joining the call as a participant, so there is no recording bot to disclose or to store.
-
Automatic customer consent prompts are available where disclosure is part of a team's process.
-
Customer data is never used to train public or shared models, and subprocessors are not permitted to train on it, even in de-identified form.
The result is that a team can give reps live help while keeping the conversation itself out of scope for the recording-consent and retention questions that slow recorded-call tools down.
What this does not replace
This page describes how Othello's architecture relates to recording-based compliance concerns. It is not legal advice, and a team's own counsel and security review remain the authority on what their obligations are. For the specific artifacts a review will ask for, the Data Processing Agreement, the subprocessor list, data-residency options, and the security questionnaire responses, the contact is compliance@othello.ai.
